Hello all. It's safe to assume that after a while, when I reappear, something Bomberman is sure to follow.

I was fortunate enough to find a listing of Bomberman Misobon Roulette for sale. I purchased it and now we have some photos of a few cabinet pieces, the PCB board, and a scan of the manual. Hot diggity! The manual is in Japanese and appears to be all technical information so I'm not sure what use it is, but it's there lol.

Here are a few photos:

Spoiler:

Now this is one of those games that hasn't been dumped yet, so I went the extra mile. I reached out to a fellow named Sean Riddle and sent him the board. He was able to dump the EPROMs in the form of .bin files. I have uploaded those files in addition to my pictures here: https://archive.org/details/bombermanmisobonroulette_202502

These files are being forward on to people in the MAME community. Nothing is guaranteed but at least we have some info and files to go off of. If anything develops from this, I will be sure to make an update, but for now, I wanted to share my findings with the community.

If anyone is able to make anything out of all this, do share it here with us! Not bad for a random find eh?

Ya know I just posted this and I already forgot stuff!

I was working with Sean and he was able to determine the sound effects are in the "bon_adpcm_u31.bin" file. If you import it as raw data in audacity and choose VOX ADPCM as the encoding, you can hear them. We were unsure what the correct sample rate is but 14500 sounds pretty close to what you can expect from the Bomberman series at that time.

I just included the sound files on the archive link as well. In particular, file 26 in the sounds has this strange Morse code beeping going on. Anyone here wanna take a crack at solving that?

Also of note, Sean located some text within the other .bin files.

I just watched the voice clips and that's exactly what I heard!? Some of the reused clips from Super Bomberman 3 can be heard in the best quality in this game!

Hey all! Took some time but I have some news to share. Misobon Roulette is now finally playable! It was released along with MAME Romset 0.275. Check the archive link I posted above. I included the .zip file you can use for MAME.

Anywho, not much to report. The game's sound is a bit off and the hopper (the thing that lets you put in and receive medals) appears to not be implemented fully yet. It will give a "Hopper Jam Error" if you try to input or if you win any medals. Luckily, if you use the Service Input option (generally 9 on your keyboard) it will let you play. You can then use 1 on your keyboard to stop the roulette/throw bombs.

Not much to report otherwise. You can input up to 5 tokens at a time which increases the potential rewards. I must say, it's actually really hard catching any of the Bomberman in this game! When I have them perfectly, they seem to just, move right out of the way! I guess it can't be helped.

Here's a few screens below and with that, we can consider this game preserved I suppose. Nice huh?
