Is nintendo making a mistake? I myself don't like the new name, Revolution was a good name for it.

I voted thinking it should stay the same.

But you have to remember something, almost all system codenames are cooler then their final names for some reason.

N64 -- Project Reality
Gamecube -- Dolphin

In comparason I'd almost always perfer the system code name.

I thought I would prefer the system code name here too, but I mean..."Wii"?

I heard this terrible terrible news last night. This is the goofiest thing I've heard. Is nintendo trying to dig themselves a grave...?

I know they usually have different code names but at least with gamecube it still made sense because it was indeed a cube.

"Wii" is just silly. I can see where they're going with the name. being a family system and what not and how "Wii" is supposed to represent "we" the fans. I still think its a dumb name. I'm just gonna keep calling it Revolution. Screw this Wii nonsense.

Unfortunately... I am doomed to love Nintendo... No matter what crazy crap they do.

Oh well... I already know this new name is gonna be made fun of so much and be punned constantly. lol. Nothing we can do about it. I've thought about emailing nintendo expressing my disgust. Even though it wont' do anything I'll probly still do it. I'll express my disgust and reassure it with my love.

Wow my signaature didn't even appear   . I read the article, and Nintendo has some good strong reasons for naming it Wii, and they all make perfect sence. They just don't realise how rediculous it sounds.

Odd, I didn't realize people complained about the DS and Micro names... and i didn't want eather of them much at all, i still want something good for emus though... waiting for gp2x linup to improve for now :P.

I never heard anyone complain about the names for the DS or Micro, maybe it was just some people around you.

Iv decided ill buy a system and refer to it as a Revo, but Ninty owe me one :P

The problem is the immature people who make childish jokes about the name.

I don't have any problem with the name really (I'd buy it even if it was the Nintendo Supergay Fagcube) but I really think it was a bit of a mistake on their part to give it a name which could be so easily made fun of. Think about a little kid, when he's at toys are us asking his mommy for a game system, do you think he'll get the Wee or the XBOX360 with Rumble Roses?

After checking out all the stuff at e3, and watching the conference.. I don't think anyone even cares about the name anymore, nintendo did things right in everyway this time around. New smash bros, new metroid, several new series games, new mario, new starfox and everything else that they have shown and are still revealing.
