I'm looking for some good battle or boss music to use for my RPG. I have found some music right now... but it sucks. Well in particular I'm looking for boss music as the battle music I did managed to find is quite good, but even so, if there's something better I'll use it.

For those who haven't heard me talk about my RPG in the chat, (Or payed any attention to my signature, lol) it is a Dungeon Keeper RPG. You can play as Creatures and Heroes so that means I need two sets of songs, a darker and I guess eviler theme and a more heroic theme too.

I'm also taking a bit of the Chrono Trigger idea too, as it had a second Boss Music for harder bosses. (Or "Super Bosses" :P) So I can except the more awesome music for that reason. :P

I have absolutely no Victory music either, so it would be nice if someone could help me there. So far I'm using the RPG defaults, which while it isn't bad, it sounds downright horrible in a Dungeon Keeper game...

So can anyone link me to some good music?

The only place I know of right off the bat is the Mod Archive... But you probably want more orchestra-sounding music, so you'd have to look harder, and I'm not sure what kind of file types you can use in your game, so you'd probably have to convert the files. I don't know of any other places, save for VGMusic, but I don't think that's what you're looking for.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm of no help at all! :P

I have no problem getting the music, trust me on that. (And not those crappy downloads either)

But more so I just need to find the right music to begin with. I've done so many searches on youtube but I'm kinda limited as I don't play too many games I guess. I kinda stopped with the searches after I accidentally got trapped in a field of Naruto music... it was horrible... dear god help me! D;

Huh?? What?! There are some awesome things on the Mod Archive!

Unless you were talking about VGMusic, in which case I have to agree on much of it. But you were kinda vague.

Well in my experiance when I download the music, it is kinda low quality or was recorded off the game or whatever which sounds kinda bad. If I wanted that, I'd record the music myself. :shifty:

Well I didn't know that :sigh:

Anyways, I'll check it out in a moment, but still not sure if this helps me since it means I'll have to browse through it all and what not.

Lol, it's alright.

Anyway, I guess I didn't realize originally that you were asking for specific music, or I wouldn't have brought it up. I don't browse for vg-oriented tracks often, and when I do it's usually chiptune stuff, so I can't think of anything good for this... Nor can I really recommend any good artists.

EDIT: Technically, I guess some tracks on the site may not be for free usage, but there should be license info for every track.

Are you actually looking for songs from various videogames or original stuff you could use with permission?

Anyway I'll post some links to some of my favorite videogame boss musics.

Phantasy Star IV - Laughter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86DCFJLuUbg

First heard against Zio. Used for a few of the games major bosses

Tales of Symphonia - Fatalize!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQApJo4TBeY

First heard against Sheena i believe... Mainly used for Event battles. By the way if you dig it this game has lots more great music.

Megaman X5 - Boss
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jR7I_6NNsQE

Used for the game's 8 mavericks. Not sure if this is the type of stuff you're looking for but its a great piece.

Breath of Fire 3 - Final Boss
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH22URxWlRc

Love this one. This is another game with an amazing soundtrack.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Blood Relations
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZVxamN3n3U

One of my favorite pieces from this series.

La Pucelle Tactics - A Martyr's March
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VnntX9oP_0

Used for very important battles. La Pucelle is a tactical RPG by the way. This is one of my favorite videogame pieces ever. It still gets me fired up when I hear it. So awesome..

Final Fantasy IV - Boss
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cJe5v5lLKk

Here's a classic.

Figure I'll post these for shits and giggles....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSBqdbyt-ow

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0kx5_2qRZI

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcptI9zT-WM

lol. well if you are indeed looking for original stuff you can take and use with permission then I can't help you, but if its just a personal project for your own amusement then I hope you enjoyed what I selected.

Pretty much everything Reggy said. lol

Especially this one.

I'll just add a few of my own into the mix.

Revenge of Shinobi - Terrible Beat
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mX-KcQI4jEM

This is one of the catchiest boss tunes I've ever heard.

Tales of Symphonia - Fighting of the Spirit
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqnr_TlEzZI

Plays when you fight against the game's Summon Spirits. Great track.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Festival of Servants
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzIs4bEwFBo

Plays when encountering many of the game's bosses. Good boss music.

And for the lulz
