I'm at the first level of Black Fortress and can't get passed the level. I keep getting run over every time I get far in the level. Can someone help out and tell me what I have to do?

That guy has a video for every level of Bomberman 64, Normal and Hard modes, including cutscenes.  

Also, take note that the cars come in a pattern.

Don't feel bad, I never got past the third level of Green Garden. I FAIL AS A BOMBERMAN FAN. orz

Bomberman 64 is a surprisingly difficult Bomberman game, especially when you try to go after all the gold cards and custom costume parts... and especially if you do this on Hard Mode while -also- trying to beat it in under 3 hours (if I remember right), where basically you get to play each stage twice - once to get four cards, the next to beat it under the time limit for the 5th, and if you die you might as well get a game over so the game doesn't save all that extra time you wasted.

I think so, yeah. Been a while since I've played it.

You could always take the safer path, and use the platforms on the top. A bit more time consuming, but it guarantees survival :)

Well there's Shiro, Shirobon Kid, and the poster formerly known as Shirobon, so....

Anyway, for that soldier-dropping mecha at the end, just stay at the edge of the arena and kick bombs at it. When you're far enough away, it can't target you (at least not to my memory). Probably you want to go behind the entrance door to that room (up the side ramps) and collect the red bomb and remote bomb items first though.

lol, hearing you guys talk about the levels kicks up some nostalgia in me. I've got a couple days off so maybe I'll be popping in Bomberman 64 for a bit.

I got 100% completion on Bomberman 64 in normal mode. I didn't fare too well in the hard mode though heh heh. I only got all the gold cards and the true ending for normal mode about a year and a half - 2 years ago, after having owned the game for like 7-8 years. lmao I obviously only played it on and off after I got the regular ending without all the gold cards.

The absolute hardest part for me was the temple (the final world) Especially Spellcaster, and the stage you had to use all the bomb jumps to hit the switches. Took me absolutely forever to get them all.

I do remember struggling with Black Fortress a bit too so I can sympathize with you. It's definitely worth beating the car level. The battle with Cerberus afterwords is really fun, though also challenging the first time!

I can get through all of Green Garden in 8 minutes (although I can't get all the gold cards and custom peices in on go).
