What're your thoughts on the Bomberman R games? I was thinking about buying them, but after looking at reviews online, I'm not sure.

Get them on extreme sale if you can, unless you're like me and will shell out the cash just to show support for the franchise.

I like some things about the R games. I do think they are pretty mediocre for the most part. I think they're worth a play but there are far more boring games in the series. The Land games tend to recycle the minigames and of course there's Act Zero.

Most of the games play the same so I don't think the R games are really much worse, just more of the same, bland gameplay. At least they attempted to add new things like Castle, Grand Prix, and Battle 64. It's something.

R2 was going in the right direction, they just need to flesh out that "open world" more instead of the same 5 enemies and doing the same "chores" over and over.

Sure keep the transition Bomberman gameplay as well as all those battle modes and customizing but you need an RPG element to flesh out that world and get people who play these games to enjoy these characters and want more.
