During the Nintendo Direct Mini today Konami announced Super Bomberman R 2, scheduled for release in 2023 on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Steam on PC. From what they've revealed so far SBR2 will feature a brand new Story Mode, a new Castle battle mode which also includes a level designer for it, as well as the return of Grand Prix mode from SBR and Battle 64 mode from SBRO.

Looks rather promising so far. The story mode in particular looks a lot more expansive than the original SBR's, as instead of just reusing the same formula from the SFC/SNES games, it looks like it'll use a variety of different gameplay styles.

I just hope that mode is long and has actual depth.

The game is out now. I'm waiting until I can find a physical copy to try it. For some reason it is nowhere to be found in my area. I'll likely have to just buy a copy online and have it delivered.
