| I suppose it's because there are a bunch of selectable characters, so they want the characters to stand out on their own, making the antennae more of an accessory or indicator. That's just my best guess... |
That was my thought too. It's an interesting move. That being said, it would be nice to see a mixture of 1) custom parts that could be equipped by every character and then 2) custom parts specific to each character. Maybe in the next game? Or DLC?
