Thanks for posting.
TBH they are awful, I am afraid I won't use them. Thanks for suggestion, though.
edit: Are there any plans for a stage where there's a bunch of good items in the middle, and then soft blocks around it? Or what about one with no hard blocks at all? |
There already is the pinata stage, which was already mentioned, but I can probably squeeze in some typical "treasure" stage in somewhere as well.
I feel that the no-hard-blocks stages are rather obtuse and a little silly. Since Bomberman games are designed with a grid in mind, there's no way to move diagonally and so the controls feel kind of awkward. It also makes it harder to strategize... at all, really, aside from dropping lots of bombs and trying to overpower the other players or trap them in one of the four corners. Then there's the whole "why are the bombs still exploding in + shapes" thing, but that's more of an aesthetic thing... I suppose I have the same complaint about some other titles. |
Well said. The whole "why are the bombs still exploding in + shapes" thing is more or less why I'm reluctant to include "holes over which explosions pass over but not players" stage - it just doesn't make sense. Then again though, the series did have some strange things going on regarding cross-shaped explosions since always, with that MSX game allowing you to set bombs not lined up to the grid or dangerous bomb since Super Bomberman 4, so I'll probably just eventually do it. This having said, actual open field stages with movement not restricted by a grid are likely not happening ever. |
