Before bombermanboard.com went down, a handful of people made bomberman themed gif images that counted down to the time that the board would go down. How the hell did they do that?

Ugh, i don't know the counter itself, but in theory youd just create a image for 012345678 and 9 and : and then youd just use a javascript countdown timer which displayed the images instead of the numbers.

I know thats not what they were doing because it was going by hours and minutes. That would be a lot of images to make!

There is a special way to do those kinda things to .png images. I've never done it before though.

i usually just look up hit counters and stuff for like java codes and html but thats just the way i do it... i find it easier to look it up on google then to make one myself.... im lazy and the years of not working on my website often lessend my understanding of html and java and all that stuff... im very forgetful.

The javascript chooses which image goes where. Unless your saying 3 in 39 was different then 3 in 03.
