I've been hearing this alot at the nsider forums at nintendo.com. You can not believe how many actually want that game on a DS, a DS!

How the hell can nintendo emulate the analog stick into a d-pad!

And a touch-screen will not be a good subsittue for it either.
Also what are they gonna do with the extra screen anyway?!

Face it, SSB is better of on a console.

Super Smash bros for DS? Interesting. I thought the game was Excellent on the N64. the remake could be better....if it were going to be on the console.

I agree with Blu bomber on this one. I don't think smash bros would make a good DS game. It needs to stay on a console. I never like heavy action related games on handhelds. No matter the quality of the handheld it still doesn't feel right playing a megaman game or a fighting game on a handheld. The best games for handhelds are rpgs and things without much fast paced action. That may jsut be my personal preference intervening with the general idea though.

As much as I'd like to see a new smash bros I hope dearly they don't do it on a handheld system.

This could be easily done, especially by Nintendo. I could even imagine a good Super Smash Bros. game for the original Gameboy (even if it would be pretty different from console versions). As long as they don't put it in place of a console version, I'd be happy.

Do you realize how horrible the touch-screen control was for that game?

I believe it's not going to work because any typical fighting game is going to have more D-Pad/analog action than most platformers. SSB is definitely not an exception with it's smash attacks. A SSB DS + having to use an arkward device like the Touch-Screen = I will not get into it...

...And why are you bumping dead threads?

...And Nintendork how will they pull off zooming/smashattacks/special moves on a gameboy?

Urg, use the touch pad. Heck, i never used the analog stick in that game anyway (i only played it like 3 times). I prefer dpads (thank the nes, snes, gen, mastersystem, evertyhing old cept the arcade) to anything except arcade sticks anyway.

For me I prefer d-pads on 2D games and analog sticks on 3D games. let's take the N64 for example.

Kirby 64 - d-pad
Pokemon puzzle league - d-pad
Mischief makers - d-pad
mario party - analog stick
Megaman 64 - Analog stick

Heck most 3D games won't even let you use the d-pad.

Actually, most of them i played let me. And if they don't i call their developers fricken retards. (in most cases)

But to be honest, even the early 3d games didn't have analog controls, like first play station controler, didn't have one (don't think the saturn controller had an analog stick eather).

Moral of the story is big joysticks me like, little joystics that are smaller then my thumb, i don't like.

The dpad on the n64 was mostly crap anyway, and in a painful location.
