So yesterday, a friend of mine,
SBW, asked me about the specific amount of food points required to evolve Pommy from stage to stage. He's making an LP of TSA, you see. Anyways, I didn't know this, at the time, and so I went to find out with some experimenting. And what my experiments revealed was actually quite interesting and unexpected.
First off, the amount of points needed to evolve Pommy is as follows.
Stage 1 to
Stage 2: 15 Points
Stage 2 to
Stage 3: 30 Points
Stage 3 to
Stage 4: 50 Points
Now then, onto the discovery.
During my experimenting, I found some strange bug where, even after getting 15 points, I couldn't get Pommy to Level 2. By this point in time, I knew 15 was the requirement because I had already learned that from earlier testing.
So what was going on? Well, it turns out that if you ever die,
regardless of whether or not you have a life, you will lose all of your food points. As to why I was dying, well, I was using the Horizon food trick and suiciding to speed up my way to the Gravity Generator room.
After discovering this, I quickly realized the reason for this. For anyone who has played the Japanese version of the game, you would know about the continue system, or the lack thereof. Baku Bomberman 2 has
no continue system. That was added into the US version of the game. This "bug" is actually left over code from the J version that they forgot to change in the US version when they were adding in the continue system.
So there you have it. Never ever die when grinding for food for Pommy.
