I have absolutely no idea where to put this, although I think this is in the right place. Please move this if this is in the wrong place. For those who've played the old Pokemon Red and Blue versions, you'll probably know what I'm talking about. This is the most famous glitch in all Pokemon history. Yeah, I'm talking about Missingno. It is a result of an unknown glitch which involves how you name your character. My friend told me about it years ago, he caught it. I'm trying to catch it myself, only one problem. Missingno is at level 163. No, really, thats it's level. It appears in multiple forms. Sometimes appearing as a glitching pixel backwards L, a Black Ghost, a Skeleton Aerodactyl, a Skeleton Kabutops, and a Yellow Version excluse glitchy pixel sqaure. So what do you guys think of this thing?
Oh man, Missingno was got me interested in glitching. It was really fun messing around with the glitch, I was so curious back then, I just had to push it to it's limits. Inevitably my saves got erased, and the game doesn't even load up now without freezing :(
My next encounter with Missingno was in Pokemon R/S. I got the egg from Lavaridge Town, but instead of the normal egg, I got a "BAD EGG" instead. This egg wouldn't hatch. It literally took me the rest of the game to finally get it to hatch. When it did, my game froze (lol)
When I restarted I had a message that my save was corrupted, and it would load the backup. Also, time was stuck in game. Berries would not grow. It was worth it though, I love seeing the programmer's mistakes. Glitching will always be interesting and fun
use the glitch to catch him if you really want to but i wouldn't recommend it if its on a real game not a rom.
Its been years since i played that game but use the glitch to get yourself 100 of the pokeballs...i forgot the name of it but you only get one in the game and its ment to catch mew2, you know the one that just catches things with out actually fighting it.

I don't really use Master Balls. I prefer the challenge of catching the Pokemon (although I needed a Master Ball for Arceus). So what happened to you after you encountered the famous glitch?
Oh man. Missingno. How can anyone not know of that one? It's one of the most famous glitches of all time.
I remember I had Missingno in one of my games, and it never really messed up or anything if I remember correctly. I think the only reason I really used the glitch was for messing around and getting pretty much infinite items (Master Balls, Rare Candies, stat boosters, etc.). It's been a while since I played that game, maybe I should pop it in sometime.
I think all your name affected was certain graphics Missingno appeared as. I remember reading about this, don't remember where, but apparently certain names would affect Missingno's appearance. For example, depending on your name, you could encounter Missingno as a Kabutops skeleton, an Aerodatcyle skeleton, or even as a generic ghost or trainer. It'd still be the same glitchy Pokemon, just as a different graphic.
lol I remember trying to import Missingno onto Pokemon Stadium. Of course it didn't let me, but in the viewer thingy, it showed Missingno as a little Rhydon-looking doll. It was kind of amusing.
Speaking of glitches, does any one else remember the Invisible PC glitch? It was nothing major or anything, but it was still kind of funny.

I know this missingo glitch from a friend of mine in the days where red & blue were released. He showed me the glitch on my blue version and I was really amazed at first because of the mutiply item glitch. I really got jealous of another friend of mine because he never got an Missingo on his blue version, he always encountered Mewtwo.
Just a few months later I heared about a city called "Sunny Town" which is actually "Glitch City", I wanted to try it out and I forgot one very important rule: ALWAYS have a pokémon in your team which can use the ability to fly and never save there!
What was the end of all this? Yes - I wasn't able to leave this messy place, and after a few tries getting out of it by using surf, my whole savestat was ereased, not only that - my game was completely broken. I wasn't able to play it anymore without getting my savestat ereased.
I never encountered Missingno on Yellow, neighter in sapphire or Pearl - I just know that you only can encounter missingno while using some kind of cheat to activate it.
Missingno is really bad but also helpful for items.
Yes I caught one once as well. He didn't cause me any problems except for some really odd battle stuff. Sometimes attacks would take longer then usual. Its been ages but there might've also been some strange battle graphics. I used missingno to duplicate gold nuggets so i could basically have infinite money, which i used to buy all the stat boosting items to make my Beedrill more uber after having leveled him up to 100.
I found missing no. in the new ones (diamond Platium and heartgold i think)

Nope. That's simply another glitch Pokemon that most people all call Missingo. Nearly everyother glitch Pokemon is oftened called Missingno even though they have few similarities with the real deal.
Sorry to put that up again, but the MissingNo is always the same no matter what generation you are playing :3
I still do play Pokemon and never encountered MissingNo in any of the generation 2 till 4, but you can activate "it" while using a action replay code (like Flame Sky listed them). You can encounter "it" still, but "it" always has a different "design". In Pearl/Diamond/Platinum for an example "it" appears as a white box that is surrounded by the sparkles that a shiny pokemon has when you found one, while in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald "it" appears as an "?", in the shape of the Pokedex entries when you haven't seen a pokemon yet.
Though I don't know what they do they still exist, you just can't face it in the open space anymore. Nintendo learned about it, but still people like to play around with the game's datas to encounter several things in the game you can't do while playing it normally.
Oh, and I saw that I was writing something about it a few years ago :3
I need to state that MissingoNo never corrupted a single data, he only slowed things down or corrupted the pokemon league's hall of fame graphics. You should never give "it" a potion to refill "it"'s HP's though because it acts like ENDLESS.
Other than that, you can give "it" many of those level-up candy's until "it" reaches level 0. Sometimes it can evolve into a Clefairy or a Kangaskhan. If you try to trade "it" to Pokemon Stadium 2 "it" evolves into a Ditto, if you trade "it" from Red/Blue/Yellow to Silver/Gold/Crystal, "it" evolves into a Porygon2.
Don't worry, I tried them all by myself so nothing bad happened~ I just made a big mistake and really saved in that glitched-up town you can activate via the Safari Zone trick (Red/Blue/Yellow), so my game's data got corrupted. MissingNo itself never made something bad besides of "freezing" my game when I gave "it" a potion.
I know I sound like a nerd when it comes down to this, but there are so many "mysteries" about it that this big pokemon-wikipedia site called "bulbapedia" made an own section about it so people can see how it does react to the game's data. Well for all who don't know much about it I put up that link for the site ;3
