I wasn't here when this happened, but my friends informed me later. Apparently while I was out and about during the con, someone stopped by my AA table and asked about the large Kirby pumpkins that I was selling. Upon being informed that the price was $10, he made a face and said: "For that?"
Eh, it was his loss - I sold out of my entire stock of Kirby pumpkins by the middle of Saturday. There were people who were warned about the potentially vanishing stock and decided to just "come back later" anyway to buy a pumpkin...and they were invariably disappointed.
-plushie cake-
I bought a cute little felt plushie cake from this person, who was a friend of a friend of mine who were both in Artist Alley again this year. It indeed cost $10. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do with it - my friend got one and she said it was sitting cutely on her bookshelf. I will probably do the same.
-flaming bunny-
My friend and fellow AA tablemate had "Flaming Bunny" as her alias on her ACen badge, and was talking every now and again about trying to find and/or commission a pair of "flaming" bunny ears. Narf.
Oh Rukifellth... Just making things more awkward then needed. XD
So I take you had a good time at this convention you went to? What was it like? I've only ever been to Anime Boston.
The only other convention I've been to was Anime Reactor (also in Illinois) a few years ago, which was tiny tiny tiny, especially compared to Anime Central, supposedly the largest anime con in the Midwest. There were a lot of people, as always, but more surprisingly Artists' Alley was the biggest I've ever seen it - I heard there were over 200 artists/studio in the Alley this year. The dealers' room has been expanding its offerings lately to some other general geeky stuff (there was a booth for the Bristol Renaissance Faire, and there were a few places selling steampunk-themed goods), but otherwise, having been going to ACen since 2005 and having since learned about other ways of getting certain goods (eBay, Yahoo!Japan auctions, garagesalejapan on LJ), I wasn't overly impressed with the dealers' room.
Panels weren't as interesting this year either, to me. There was one about fanfiction that I sort of wanted to go to for the lulz, but it conflicted with Whose Line Is It Anime. WLIIA was still awesome, but not as awesome as previous years. I also went to a Gintama cosplay meetup and panel that was pretty fun.
I've been to a few Whose Line is it animes? For me that event is very hit or miss. Sometimes its hilarious other times it was lame. I guess it depends who's participating and what kinds of subjects they use.
At anime cons I always do AMV contests. They're so awesome!
I also enjoy going to industry panels with my buddy and we also tend to do other panels as well. We've been to a Touhou Project panel a couple times, pretty awesome. Went to a panel about "The vile specter of Moe" which was quite interesting. Discussed the origins of moe and explored it's darkside in otakudom. Also liek to check out panels discussing obscure anime to see if there's some hidden gems I don't know about yet.
cons are a great time. My next one is my first ever Otakon coming up later this summer!

Ah I see. The convention I go to is really starting to grow and is becoming one of the largest ones in the country (according to this site, in 2008, it was the 6th biggest convention in the US). I always have a good time there as well. I like going to the Artists' Alley. Can find some pretty cool stuff, although some of it is a tad bit on the pricey side.

Same deal for AB this year too. There were hardly any panels I really wanted to see this year.

A Bomberandom sketch done in erasable Prismacolor pencils that I typically use to lay down really rough outlines (before using regular mechanical pencils). Had to piece this together from three different scans 'cause the original was done in a 12" by 14" sketchbook.
Hooray for Back to Back Badasses! Well, okay, maybe not badass as chibis, but whatever - here's human!Bomberman and human!Max.
I am really liking the Max design. You managed to pull off a hairstyle for him that is not just a straight-up mohawk.
I'm glad you think so. I was actually worried about that, because originally human!Max had straight-up long black hair. Then I tried a regular mohawk, but it looked weird, so I combined the two for this current design. I actually have no idea if this hairstyle could work in real life, but this is anime-style, so I guess anything goes. XD
You know, what would really be cool is if you were to draw human Max dressed as a knight (perhaps not with plate armor... maybe chainmail with a "shirt" on etc..?).
To go along with his Bomberman Tournament background, I mean.

I do actually have some sketches somewhere of that, from when I was still planning to do a doujinshi of the entire Tournament storyline. Of course, that was like five years ago so of course the sketches are crap...
"We are Haruhi Suzumiya, from East Junior High. We are not interested in ordinary people. But if any of you are aliens, time-travelers, or espers, we shall return you to the Void. That is all."
Before she was the Angel, she was just a not-so-ordinary schoolgirl.
