Greg Martin was an illustrator that worked on many Hanna Barbera cartoons and more notably, many video game box arts. He illustrated the US covers for many Hudson games including Bomberman II, Super Bomberman, as well as many of the Sonic the Hedgehog titles.

The link below includes many of his works. Tis a sad day.

Dadgum. This guy was good at what he did. It's always interesting to hear about the people behind the scenes.

Wow! I never knew all that stuff was by the same guy! Time Gal? Landstalker? and of course Sonic... I have a bunch of those games!

But after looking at them all close together you can kind of see its the same style.

Too bad about him. He did some good stuff there.

I miss the good old days when artwork really felt amazing on boxes. As a kid I remember looking at some games and even when they turned out to be crap, your imagination was like "Woah!" when it saw the art.

Some box art nowadays are good but most of them just feel photoshopped and leave me uninterested. I wanna see more hand drawn goodness.

Remind me how most video game boxes look copy pasted from the polygon

Or the characters do not mesh together as if they are drawn separately then pasted together

Not gonna miss those SNES covers though most look a bit bizzare

Yes I have it and have played it some. I have to say that it is brutally hard and unforgiving! You have to memorize when to press the buttons to a tee to get through the segments. (On top of that the FMV clips will get semi-randomized when you have to retry stages.) I doubt I'll be able to beat it...

Yeah! I remember a number of games I bought when I was young that I knew next to nothing about just cause I was impressed with the artwork. lol! It wasn't always a good thing, however I might not of had some of the good ones to this day otherwise.

That's incredibly unfortunate. Despite being something of an artist myself, I never realized that a lot of those box art covers were done by the same guy, let alone the same guy who worked on the old Flintstones and Jetsons cartoons. lol Greg was obviously an incredibly talented guy, and based on what I read of the opening post of the source topic, an incredibly nice guy too. He will be missed.
